The MCF5272 Mikrocontroller ist ein hochintegrierter ColdFire Mikroprozessor, der neueste serielle Kommunikationsmodule bietet wie z. B. einen 10/100 Ethernet Controller sowie ein USB Modul. Gleichzeitig aber beinhaltet er die bereits bekannten Universal-Peripheriemodule, die in den vorhergegangen ColdFire Standard Produkten implementiert waren. Basierend auf dem Version 2 (V2) ColdFire Kern erreicht dieser eine Leistung von 63 Dhrystone 2,1 MIPS bei 66MHz.
