The Raven is a parallel port interface for either JTAG or BDM debugging.Faster than a Wiggler, it is a stable, easy to use device and is fullycompatible with all of our software.

The Raven is a mid-cost interface used in the design, debug, andprogramming of microprocessor based embedded systems. One side of theRaven interfaces to the parallel port of a host IBM compatible PC andthe other side connects to an OCD (On-Chip Debug) port of the targetsystem. This port may be JTAG, E-JTAG, OnCE, COP, BDM, or any of severalother types of connections. As with all Macraigor
interface devices, the Raven can simultaneously debug up to 255 deviceson a single scan chain.

Theory of Operation - The Raven operates as a parallel to JTAG/BDM andJTAG/BDM to parallel converter between OCD signals and host debuggingcommands. Power is supplied by an external five volt power supply. Thebuffers that interface to the target OCD signals are powered by thetarget itself, allowing the Raven to automatically match target voltagesbetween 5.0 V and 2.2 V. It supports
configurable JTAG clock rates between 60 KHz and 8MHz and will performbest with those ports that are EPP (enhanced parallel port) compatiblebut will also work with most other parallel port modes

Physical - The Raven is in a black plastic housing, approximately 4 x2.5 x 0.75 inches. One side has a standard, male, DB-25. The other sidehas a 5.5 inch ribbon cable ending in the appropriate header for the OCDtarget. It weighs approximately 8 ounces. The power supply as attachedto the Raven via a three foot wire and the supply ends in an IECconnector.
