The radio extender board REB212 V5.0.2 is an economical radio module based on the 868/915 MHz radio transceiver AT86RF212.
It is quick and easy to start up, program and evaluate the transceiver AT86RF212 using this module combined with the Atmel STK500-Board and the Atmel STK600-Board. National regulations for the use of radio frequencies should be observed. The transceiver can be operated following both the European and North American standards. The used AT86RF212 possesses additional hardware functions - e.g. 128 bit AES engine and a special Frame start interrupt.
The RadioExtender212 is connected directly to the Atmel STK500-Board using a 40 pin plug and using the REB to STK600 adapter to the Atmel STK600-Board.
This solution supports several Atmel microcontrollers such as ATmega2561, Atmega2560, ATmega1281, ATmega1280, ATmega644, ATmega324, ATmega164.
The module has a maximum adjustable transmitter power of 8 dBm and its receiving sensitivity is -108 dBm. The user is responsible for following local regulations regarding the maximum permitted transmitter power. The integrated filter provides for the secure suppression of harmonics at the maximum transmitter power. The data rate is between 20 kBps and 250 kBps depending on the type of modulation. The module´s range depends on the antenna used. The power supply must be between 1.8 ... 3.6 V. The power consumption in sending and receiving mode is approximately 17 mA and in standby approximately 3 µA. The transceiver´s power consumption can be easily measured by attaching a measuring device to the jumper.
The RadioExtender212 V5.0.2 features an SMA plug for connecting an antenna or antenna line.
